Stuart Ferguson July 2009 Newsletter
Happy Summer Everyone (although it doesn't really feel like it),
There is a lot of excitement in the air. Some of it good, some of it not so good. Some good news first. Lyn, Phil Punch and I have a show tomorrow night Friday, July 24 at 7PM at Ichabod's in Acton (details are below). This may well be our last show at Ichabod's as the management is re-evaluating their music program. Ichabod's has been our home away from home for the last 9 months and the owner, Sal, and his staff have treated us like family, so please come out and share what promises to be a great evening of music
Unfortunately, the show that we had booked at the Grafton Inn later this month has been canceled as the Inn has changed management and the new management was not able to transfer the Liquor license. We may still be able to play our August date at the Inn, but even that is looking doubtful at this point.
On the good news front, we've had some great gigs lately. On July 4th Lyn, Phil and I played at the Bolton 4th of July Fireworks Festival in Bolton, MA. Perched on top of a flatbed truck we played to a huge crowd that included a couple of battalions of mosquitos. After a rousing a capella rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, we played our last song of the night while the fireworks were going off over head. Phil and I had a terrific show at Sweet William Farm a week ago. The crowd was great and we hung around and chatted with folks for a while after the show. We also played a gig last weekend with Lori Diamond and Fred Abatelli in Southington, CT at Jitters Coffeehouse (home of the German Chocolate coffee with a hint of Coconut) that was an intimate affair with a small but attentive audience.
Production of the new CD is underway at Wellspring Sound in Acton with Eric Kilburn manning the controls. In a Herculean feat, Lori, Fred and Phil laid down 7 basic tracks last Monday evening and the songs sound great. A late fall release is anticipated. You can hear live versions of two of the songs with the band at http://www.reverbnation.com/stuartgferguson
Last, but not least, the band (Lyn, Phil, Lori, and Fred) recently recorded an appearance for Local Music Rocks which is a cable tv show out of Westford, MA. The show will air throughout August on local cable stations in the following towns: Acton, Billerica, Boxboro, Burlington, Chelmsford, Dunstable, Dracut, Fitchburg, Groton, Harvard, Hudson, Hudson, NH, Littleton, Maynard, Milford, Northborough, Pepperell, Shirley, Stow, Tyngsborough, Wellesley, Westborough, and Westford. Check your local listings for dates and times.
Thanks for reading and thanks for your support of local music. We hope to see you tomorrow evening.
